I never learned filmmaking. I grew up in a house where there was an art film camera and then we had an art film camera and then we had this camera. It was all about making it out. My dad didn’t really know a whole lot about filmmaking and the stuff he did was just all about making films. So he was always like, “This is how it’s done.” We had this old tape recorder out there, so he was always making films. But he never learned filmmaking.
Tell me about your new film.
This is a really weird project. It is definitely not just a comedy. It is a story about what goes on with a guy who is going through an experience where he tries to commit suicide, a very dark experience. It’s a really dark film in terms of how it tells the story and it’s really dark, really bleak. At one point of the film, you will even see myself trying to commit suicide in some sort of strange way. It is a very dark documentary. This one I got the rights to because I’m an animal lover, and I got to make a documentary about animals. As soon as I got the rights, I started to think of what my next project would be. There are lots of things I want to do. I’m trying to build a new career as a professional animal photographer, and try and make a film about the plight of these animals and show as much of their natural state as is possible and try and do it in good light. I’m hoping that people will be moved to care about these animals and want to do something about it.
I am going to preface this post with a disclaimer. I am going to say “this is my thoughts” for the sake of context and for everyone that will read my ramblings.
I don’t know why I am posting this, it seems like it might be helpful at this point in my life. Because I have no clue what to do now. I am currently an unemployed college graduate who has basically lost everything, except it may be worth it to be a productive person, and a productive friend. I have a great job in sales for a company that provides some insurance, and I really appreciate it. It’s also worth mentioning, as a friend, that I was always an avid fan of the movie Star Wars. The only reason I haven’t been back to the franchise for years or decades is because I am not a Star Wars geek.
