How many guitar chords are there? – What To Learn On Guitar In Order

There are 6 standard guitar chords, and 5 less standard chords. If you can memorize all of them, or have an even mix of those and some more, then you’ll have a good idea of what your fretboard shapes should be. I will use the following as a guide. The notes of these chords are a minor pentatonic scale for 5 strings, so I will use a C-D-D-G-D-F-G-A-C interval for each chord type. For more details on these chords, look into any books you plan on buying for guitar, or just read the chord symbols I am using, as those are a great place for reference. Note, though, that the following notes only represent one example of a chord, and as such it may be useful to take notes for the different notes of the scale, rather than just all of them at once. A major pentatonic scale is A, B, D, E, F, A, B, C, D, E, F, etc. An augmented pentatonic scale is A, B, C, D, E, F, A, B, C, E, F, A, B, D, E, F, etc. If you have any other chords to add to this list, comment below!
