Learning Guitar is one of the most effective and fun learning techniques there is. Most people who do not play will learn from someone who has already learned. You don’t have to learn guitar to play guitar, and you don’t have to be a complete newbie to understand that everything you’ll learn about music is also what’s going on in music. It is, essentially, playing on the surface of a record (your instrument), but not playing the record. It’s playing inside the cover (the piano/cello).
How do beginners start playing?
As soon as you can play the simple chords without being able to learn the fretboard. I often refer to this as the “easy” part of learning. In most cases this is the 1st or 2nd chord of a song at most. If someone just started out playing guitar, they would be surprised just how many chords they could cover with their fingers.
How easy is this learning process?
It all comes down to effort. It all comes down to putting effort into the learning process. You can improve in terms of ability with practice, but you can’t improve by merely thinking “I’ll just sit down and play.” You have to actually do it.
Why is this important?
The first step, if you are serious about learning, is to actually practice (be committed to learning). That is the starting point. This is what you need to do, and if nothing else, it helps motivate you to try to learn. It can make you take more serious steps towards learning, since you are doing it for a purpose like it was your purpose as a beginner. If you do things right, you will get better at it. If you don’t, you will get worse at it, and you will never learn how to play the music.
What if I feel I am just not learning enough?
You’re always learning. You never stop learning! You learn what you learn and you learn what you need to learn. Your goal, at any stage in your life, is to learn new things and you want to make your ability to learn better. This means finding ways of doing things to learn more effectively and to find more out of the ones you already know. You have to work hard and you have to be determined.
Is studying guitar a waste of time?
The only reason it’s worthwhile is that you have a goal and you’re working towards it. You’re not being wasted
