The different types of spray paint are different in the way they are created. For example, acrylic paints are made by soaking acrylic paints in hot water (melted). The paint evaporates leaving behind a clear, white, glassy fluid.
For water based paints, most can be created by soaking up solution in hot water. This can take a little longer to do than acrylic paint, but is more effective. A more traditional way to create a liquid paint is by baking. This process is also used for water based paints.
What are some common problems that can happen with various paint types?
Due to the nature of the various formulations, it is possible for the paint to have a high number of chemical reactions with various things. Many problems can be traced back to a bad batch (as in your paint), and/or a bad batch of paint. These problems can also come from the fact that the paints were used with various oils, dyes, etc. Sometimes when new paints are applied to small areas, it is possible for tiny particles of the paint to form on the surface. These little particles can cause problems like splatters and scratches. These can easily make a big mess on the paint job while other problems can also occur, such as the need for an oil cleanser to thoroughly clean the area to make the paint safe to wipe down.
How long until the paint stops?
After the paint has been thoroughly dried and stored, the paint tends to get harder, as long as it is stored in a cool, airtight place. Eventually, after having the paint for a week or more, it will fall into a hard, dry consistency. This is actually a good sign of the paint getting harder. The paint can also change colors. Some will take on a rusty gold color, while others may become bright white. These changes are called “pigments”. This will be discussed more in the “What is a Pigment” section above.
Is a paint or coating safe to touch?
There has been a misconception over the years, from the manufacturer and paint store workers, that paints are safe to touch. For the most part, they are. There is no way to know if a particular type of paint will cause skin damage or any other problem. The only thing that should concern you is if the paint itself is hazardous. For example, a paint can be dangerous if it is in contact with chemicals. For this reason it is important to read the instructions regarding the
